Museum Construction Site Bi-Weekly Progress Update #60

Overview/Project Accomplishments:

  • Exhibit Hall floor pours 1 & 2 completed.
  • Completed Exhibit Hall Roof Decking.
  • Installing roof cladding support structure.
  • Installing CMU around pump house.
  • Great Hall glass installed.
  • Theater glass install ongoing.
  • Interior Rotunda level Wall Framing Ongoing.
  • Installing Overhead MEPF conduits, duct & pipe Throughout the Rotunda.
  • Rotunda roof waterproofing beginning.
  • Great Hall fireproofing and exterior wall framing complete.

Glass Panes in the Great Hall

  • The beautiful, full-height glass panes that are used in both the Great Hall and the Leadership Theater are oversized units made in Steyr, Austria by Vandaglas. 
  • Each double-laminated pane is 23 feet tall, 7 wide, and weighs 2,200 lbs. 
  • Each tall pane is stabilized by triple-laminated glass “fins” that are 23 feet tall x 1’2” wide . 
  • The total assembly of glass in each end wall weighs more than 11 tons.
