Glass Elements
While steel erection continues at the construction site, there are exciting things happening off-site in preparation for the dramatic structural glass elements future arrival at the Museum. A recent trip to Germany and Austria allowed the team to approve the fabricated glass elements for delivery to the NMOHM. The first glass elements are anticipated to arrive at the site at the end of July. Seen in images (below):
Picture 2: Largest single piece of curved glass (lakeside amphitheater) being viewed with a “zebra board” to reveal possible distortion. This piece is 7’ wide and 16’ tall and weighs approximately 2200 lbs.
Picture 3: Laminated Glass beams that will hold the rotunda skylight above the main circulation in the museum. There are 56 glass beams in the Rotunda.
