DID YOU KNOW?

As part of the 2022 Groundbreaking Ceremony, soil from all 50 states was ceremoniously deposited into the Museum site.  This gesture symbolized our nation’s gratitude to Medal of Honor Recipients and the country’s support for the National Medal of Honor Museum as it honors and tells their stories.  The idea and all the hard work that went into making this possible is attributed to my extremely talented colleague, Jennifer Surgalski.

‘Is all of this just dirt?  Maybe.  But in these places, it represents so much more.  The grounds of battle are made hallowed by the blood and sweat poured out into the dirt.’
